Organizers of the Chattanooga Beer Fest have announced the 2024 date will be Saturday, May 25 at the First Horizon Pavilion from noon-3 p.m. The festival is a celebration of craft beer offering attendees unlimited samples from all participating brewers at one flat ticket price.
"It’s a great way to not only sample unique craft beers, but also an opportunity to talk directly with the brewers themselves," organizers said. "This celebration of craft beer brings together an abundance of local and regional breweries who are excited to offer their best and newest brews to festival attendees for a fourth year."
The 2024 Chattanooga Beer Fest is presented by 3 Floyd’s this year. Dozens of participating breweries are being finalized, but currently include: 3 Floyd’s (Munster, In.), Gatlinburg Brewing (Gatlinburg), Hutton & Smith (Chattanooga), Naked River Brewing (Chattanooga), Five Witts Brewing (Chattanooga) and The Barley Mob (Chattanooga).
"Title sponsor, 3 Floyds, isn’t a traditional brewery by any means," organizers said. "Armed with only a few hundred dollars and repurposed equipment, Nick Floyd began brewing 'not normal' lagers and ales out of Hammond, In. Now, the successful brewery can be described as one of the best in the world, with popular brews such as Zombie Dust and The Creeper, along with other oddly named varieties. Ticket holders to Chattanooga Beer Fest will be able to sample from many of the 3 Floyd’s brews."
For a fourth year, Chattanooga Beer Fest will host dozens of breweries from around the region. While the list is still being cultivated, breweries are being added every day and the current lineup can be viewed on ChattanoogaBeerFest.com. Each patron will receive a commemorative tasting glass to sample from all of the breweries. No tokens or additional funds are needed past the ticket price. Tickets are $48 in advance or $58 at the door, and available here.
Adding to the festival, patrons can shop with a sampling of artists and makers from Chattanooga Market—several dozen. Local eats will be a part, as well. Participating food trucks are Windy City Eats, I Love Tacos, Fro Daddy (donuts) and Chattatator. Water and soft drink options will be onsite—organizers encourage participants to sample alcohol safely.
The music line-up for the event boasts FlashDrive, a seven-member cover band based out of Chattanooga. With years of musical experience behind them, they enjoy entertaining audiences by playing Top 40 dance tunes from 10 different genres (classic rock, rock, pop, funk, disco, R&B, folk, indie, alternative, modern country), covering seven decades of music.

The New Empire centers on an unexpected team-up between two of cinema’s most well-known monster movie icons. When King Kong discovers others of his species inside the hollow center of planet Earth, he must join forces with fellow B-movie heavyweight Godzilla to prevent their evil leader and a world-ending Titan from destroying the surface world.
Director — and Oak Ridge, Tennessee, native — Adam Wingard returns to lead this latest installment in Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse franchise, which stars Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Prestige), Brian Tyree Henry (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Beauty and the Beast).

Godzilla x Kong and Dune are just the latest in an ever-expanding list of feature-length films being shown at IMAX. Since 2021, the theater has exhibited a steady stream of superhero blockbusters and Oscar-worthy dramatic offerings like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Oppenheimer.
The high demand brought by these big-screen blockbusters has fueled a suite of improvements at the theater to enhance the viewer experience, including replacing the 5,800-square-foot screen in 2022 and the installation of larger, more comfortable seats in 2023.
The latest update to the facility includes an overhaul of the concession experience, ensuring guests can grab their drinks, popcorn, and other snacks with plenty of time to take a seat before films begin. The newly renovated self-service concession area allows guests to select items a la carte before paying at the register. Some items, such as nachos and pretzels, will still prepared by concessions staff at the time of order.
“We wanted to go a direction that would speed up the concessions experience for our guests and minimize wait times,” says Director of IMAX Operations Corey Cobb.

After a 9-6 win Monday in Ooltewah, the Mustangs capped the series with a 6-2 tally.
"Good team win. We’re starting to come around," related head wrangler Wes Anderson. "Starting to find some barrels offensively and do the little things that allow us to finish.
"That’s the difference so far this year. We’ve been in every game and even lead in most of them late in game; just finish. "
Walker Valley (4-8) will journey to Boyd Buchanan Thursday evening before opening District 5-4A play with a home-and-home with Cleveland (7-6) Monday and Tuesday.
Ooltewah (1-9) will visit Cleveland Thursday and McMinn County Friday.
After the Owls got a pair of baserunners in the opening at bat, they were erased by a double play and strikeout.
The Mustangs jumped on the scoreboard quickly with Carson-Newman signee Braxton Smith stroking a one-out double and Carson Minnix was "plunked" before senior Conner Phillips helped out his own cause with a two-bagger of his own to plate both his teammates in the bottom of the first.
Walker Valley tacked on two more scores in the third frame when Felipe Castellanos opened with a single before Smith "walked the line." After a balk moved both up a base, Minnix drove a sac fly to center field to drive in Minnix before Phillips reached on an error to plate Smith.
The Owls were able to cut the deficit in half without benefit of a hit in the top of the fourth.
James Trent was hit by a pitch to open the at bat but was erased on a fielder choice on a bunt by Jackson Riggins. Ethan Hughes followed with a walk and a bunt Gavin Fields loaded the sacks. Riggins scored on a Mustang error, while Hughes came home on wild pitch.
The hosts picked up solo scores in the fifth and sixth frame to seal the deal.
Smith and Minnix opened the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back singles, with Smith coming in after stealing second.
In the Herd's final at bat, a two-out "plunk" of Jordan Smith and a walk to Titus Torbett set the stage for Brody Ownbey's first varsity at bat, in which he delivered a RBI-single.
Braxton Smith got on base thrice and circled the bases each time to pace the Mustang seven-hit offense.

And a few new things this year . . .
While most band performances will be held on Nightfall’s home stage at Miller Plaza, plans are to also host a few of the shows during the season from the Miller Park stage, just for fun.
Changes this year will include plans for a new street closure that will take the event footprint one block east on M.L. King down to Lindsey Street and close Georgia Avenue on either side of M.L. King. Market Street will not be closed, in order to offer better traffic flow around the event. The new road closure plan will also allow for a slightly earlier event set up time.
Look for local food trucks on M.L. King between Georgia and Lindsey, and local visual artists in and around Miller Park. Applications for both food trucks and art vendors can be found at nightfallchattanooga.com. Motorcycle parking will be allowed in Georgia Avenue, on the block north of M.L. King.
The Chattanooga Football Club’s inflatable soccer field and other children’s games will continue to be offered in Miller Park. There will be roller skating with Dazey Skate Co on Georgia Avenue in front of the post office for the first six weeks of the season, with participants being allowed to bring their own skates or rent skates in children’s and adult sizes on site.
Thanks to the earlier site setup, for the first time a Nightfall Happy Hour will be offered from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for early arrivers to enjoy weekly drink specials at a discount.
Nightfall will also feature a new cooling machine on site, which is designed to cool down a 2,500 sq ft area, cooling Nightfall fans by an average 30 degrees – even on our hottest nights.
Nightfall bulk discount beer tickets will again be available this year at each show, offering a 20 percent savings on a packet of 20 beer tickets. No outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought into Nightfall since concession sales are a primary funder of Nightfall (outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited by law at Miller Park/Plaza).

Florida men’s basketball coach Todd Golden has his eyes on the transfer portal for pieces that can make the Gators better next season, and UT-Chattanooga forward Sam Alexis’ entry into the portal last week did not go unnoticed.
Alexis averaged 10.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a sophomore and is ranked No. 28 overall among players in the transfer portal by On3. The 6-foot-9-inch forward is still fielding offers and figuring out a travel schedule.
“They have Tyrese Samuel leaving, and they talking about how I can come in and fill that spot, do the things he does,” Alexis said of Florida to On3. “And I can see that, we have some similar games, but I am a better shooter.”
Is Florida a good fit for Alexis?
Alexis has very specific criteria for his next home. He needs to fit on the roster and does not want to lose the family vibe the coaching staff in Chattanooga has cultivated.
“I want to go to a school that has the right style of play. A coach who plays some five-out, pick-and-pop, dribble hand offs. Where they play through the big and they let the big man make decisions.”‘
Alexis says he doesn’t want to be the first name to commit to a program, so Florida will likely need another domino to fall before locking in Samuel’s replacement for next year.
There’s draft potential in Alexis, and Todd Golden has treated his bigs well in Gainesville. This could be a match to keep following.
