Commercial Truck Insurance in Deerfield Beach, FL

  • Let's face it - truckers in America have always been the backbone of our great country. They still are in modern times. On any given day, thousands of trucks traverse our highways and local roads, delivering goods and products on time so that businesses and consumers have what they need to live life. And while commercial trucking can be an incredibly lucrative way to make a living and put food on the table, it can also be risky and expensive.

  • That's where working with a reliable truck insurance agency comes into play. Unfortunately, for many commercial truck insurance providers, serving the needs of truckers is low on the proverbial totem pole. At Independence Insurance Agency, nothing could be further from the truth.

Common Types of Big Rig Truck Insurance in Deerfield Beach, FL

At Independence Insurance Agency, we offer several types of insurance coverage for local, intermediate, and long-haul trucking needs. Here are just a few categories of trucking insurance coverage that our agency offers.

As the foundation of your insurance policy, liability coverage is required by law in most states in the U.S. It provides coverage for damage or injuries caused to properties or other people if your 18-wheeler is responsible for the crash. Without liability coverage, it's almost impossible to drive a truck or run a trucking business without major legal consequences.

Having physical damage coverage is an essential component that shouldn't be overlooked. This insurance is responsible for covering the expenses related to repairing or replacing your truck in situations such as accidents, theft, vandalism, and other damaging events. By having this coverage, you can rest assured that your business won't be affected significantly by unexpected incidents, and you can continue running your operations smoothly even in challenging times.

For trucking companies, the goods they transport are crucial to their operations. To protect these goods from damage, loss, or theft while in transit, cargo insurance is essential. This coverage provides much-needed peace of mind for both you and your clients, allowing you to reimburse clients for any losses sustained while protecting your reputation and brand identity.

Non-Trucking Liability Insurance is designed to cover property damage or bodily injury that may occur during personal time when the driver/truck is not under dispatch. This coverage can be applied with or without a trailer and is added to a commercial policy as an endorsement.

While Independence Insurance Agency has built a reputation of excellence in serving the needs of truckers, we also offer general liability. Also known as Truckers General Liability, this coverage insures for bodily injuries or property damage that happen due to business activities that are NOT the cause of operating a truck. It covers accidents that occur in parking lots, rest stops, also while loading or unloading. General liability can also cover losses related to theft and vandalism. Most brokers and shippers will require this coverage to work with you.

Bobtail insurance is a type of coverage that is comparable to non-trucking liability, which is designed to offer protection when driving a truck without a trailer attached. This is commonly referred to as "bobtailing." With bobtail insurance, the tractor is covered at all times, even when it is not attached to a trailer, regardless of whether or not the truck is under dispatch.

Trailer interchange insurance is a must-have if you're involved in a trailer interchange agreement. This essential coverage offers protection for trailers owned by other parties that you're using under a contractual agreement. It covers damages caused by collisions, fire, theft, and vandalism, providing assurance to all parties involved.

Three plus 3 Safe Driving Tips to

Lower the Cost of Truck Insurance in Deerfield Beach, FL

Keeping your drivers safe on the road is crucial not only for their own well-being but also for the safety of other motorists and the financial stability of your business. The Department of Labor has identified the trucking industry as one of the most hazardous sectors in the U.S. In fact, trucking and logistics fleets are known for their high injury and fatality rates. By improving how safely your truckers drive, you can help reduce expenses related to claim payouts, accidents, and insurance premium hikes.

Whether you own a large fleet or you're the owner and operator of a single rig, keep these safe driving tips in mind to help lower your insurance costs.

Implement Preventative Maintenance Plans

Ensuring the safety of your drivers begins with the safety of their vehicles. Trucks and tractor-trailers that do not receive regular maintenance, such as oil and brake pad changes, are more likely to experience breakdowns while on the road. Telematics devices provide real-time insight into engine and odometer data, including fault codes.

This information enables your mechanics to create comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules based on mileage, history of previous breakdowns, days, and more. Additionally, they can receive immediate notifications for critical fault codes. By implementing routine maintenance and proactive repair schedules, you can ensure that your vehicles are in top condition, minimizing the likelihood of breakdowns, which can help reduce the cost of trucker insurance.

Practice Defensive Driving

This approach aims to mitigate the risk of fatal crashes and injuries by proactively identifying and responding to potentially dangerous situations and making informed decisions while driving. By adopting defensive driving techniques, drivers can reduce their likelihood of accidents, thereby minimizing the need for expensive repairs, claim payouts, and increased insurance premiums.

Some of the easiest ways for you or your drivers to practice safe driving include:

  • Be Wary of Blind Spots: Operating a reefer or tractor-trailer means driving high off of the ground, which can make visibility limited, especially in blind spots. To check your blind spot, look over your shoulder and out of your windows while changing lanes.
  • Be Ready for Emergencies on the Road: It's important for drivers to be ready for unexpected situations when driving, especially during long trips. They should be equipped to handle emergencies such as poor driving conditions or big rig breakdowns.
  • Use the Three-Second Rule: Truck drivers should try to maintain a three-second gap between their vehicle and the car in front of them. This means that the truck driver should reach a certain point on the road three seconds after the car in front of them has passed that same point.
  • Always Use Right and Left Turn Indicators: It's important for drivers to always use their turn signals when changing lanes or exiting highways, even if they don't see any other cars around. This is not only required by law, but it also reduces the chances of accidents occurring on the road.

Find Ways to Prevent Distracted Driving

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), distracted driving is the primary reason behind truck driver accidents. Any activity that takes a driver's attention away from the road or the steering wheel is considered distracted driving. Distractions can come in various forms, such as eating while driving or gazing at a billboard outside the window. However, the most frequent form of distracted driving is the use of cellphones, specifically texting while driving.

Assuming you or your driver's rigs are equipped with dual-facing cameras, try reviewing footage of an unsafe driving incident. Coach your drivers on ways to correct their unsafe behaviors or look up ways to do so yourself if you're the one operating the big rig. The bottom line is that when your drivers aren't distracted, they drive safer. And when they drive safer, the cost of 18-wheeler insurance in cityname, state can be reduced.

A 25-year-old Fort Lauderdale man was arrested Thursday after attacking a woman at a business in Deerfield Beach before forcing her into a car and driving off with her, a probable cause affidavit said.

James Alexander Cure III faces charges of kidnapping, burglary with assault or battery, burglary of a dwelling, structure or conveyance and three counts of battery stemming from the incident Thursday morning near the 2001 block of West Sample Road, according to court records. He was held in the Broward Main Jail as of Friday night.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Cure knew the woman whom he attacked but did not provide further information on their relation to one another.

Before Cure arrived at the business in Deerfield Beach, he and the victim were arguing over text message, the affidavit said. Cure took an Uber to the business and demanded to talk to her.

Another woman inside the business told Cure the victim did not want to talk to him and that he needed to leave, the affidavit said. Cure then jumped over a reception counter, shoving the woman who told him to leave and at least one other person.

As Cure searched the business for the woman, he opened the doors of nearby offices and shoved one of the other victims again in doing so while they hid in one of the offices, the affidavit said.

Cure found the victim in a hallway and demanded she gather her things, the affidavit said. He grabbed the back of her neck and forced her into her office and took her cell phone away as she gathered her things.

Cure walked out of the business with the woman, and they got into the woman’s car parked in the back, the affidavit said. The woman started experiencing a medical issue shortly into the drive and Cure dropped her off at a hospital in Margate. The medical issue is redacted in the affidavit.

One of the witnesses who called 911 told a detective that when Cure was in the business, he slammed a backpack on a desk and said, “I’m not the one to be f—– with.” The witness said it sounded like a gun was in the backpack when it hit the desk, according to the affidavit.

Authorities later found Cure at a Wawa gas station on North State Road 7 in Margate, the affidavit said. Later that day, detectives obtained a search warrant for the victim’s apartment, where she gave them Cure’s backpack. The backpack had a pistol inside with three magazines and Cure’s identification.

The U.S. has some of the world’s most stunning and exciting destinations for sunbathing and water-related activities, from beautiful beach cities and towns offering 365 days of sun and fun to unique beaches with unusual colors, like green or purple, that particularly stand out. One popular activity that attracts divers, photographers, and marine biologists alike is exploring rich and colorful coral reefs, be they natural or artificially made.

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary defines coral reefs as “massive structures made of limestone deposited by coral polyps” that support about “25% of all known marine species.” And since Florida is the only state in the mainland U.S. with several shallow coral reef formations close to its coasts, here is a selection of seven beaches where casual snorkelers and professional divers can easily access wondrous reefs directly from a shore or a pier, as opposed to long and complicated boat or plane rides to idyllic, but remote -- and possibly dangerous -- destinations.

Fort Lauderdale, dubbed the Venice of America, is home to amazing shorelines, tall palms, and wonderful beaches like Fort Lauderdale Beach and its 4 miles of clean and white sand and clear water. Located between Las Olas and Sunrise Boulevard, it offers many facilities and activities, like benches, chairs, jet skiing, volleyball, parasailing, fishing, and various lifeguards, not to mention its convenient proximity to affordable bars and restaurants.

Beginner and intermediate snorkelers and divers might also want to check out the Twin Ledges reefs, located about half a mile from the shore, at a depth of 15 to 22 feet. Oceanwide Explorers also recommends it as a quality dive site for spearfishing and lobstering, but it also warns against attempting it on a windy day.

Inlet Beach Regional Access lies in Panama City Beach, in South Walton and Bay Counties, at the end of South Orange Street. It boasts three entry points, 117 parking spaces, ADA Accessible restrooms and boardwalk, a water fountain, beach wheelchairs, and seasonal lifeguards, but its most interesting feature is its accessibility to one of the region’s artificial reefs.

It is between 12 and 21 feet deep and attracts bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles, and eagle rays.

5 Grayton Beach State Park

Nestled in northwestern Florida, between Destin and Panama City Beach and its wild nightlife, Grayton Beach State Park stretches over 2,000 acres and attracts swimmers, birders, picnickers, campers, paddlers, wildlife observers, and fishing aficionados.

And at just 783 feet from the shore, the stunning, 10 to 20-foot-deep Sea Turtle Reef, which was installed in 2015, is a snorkeler’s paradise with its 58 individual reefs laid out in the shape of a turtle. Regular marine visitors include sea turtles, octopi, small sharks, and several varieties of colorful fish.

3 Topsail Hill Preserve State Park

With its dunes, wetlands, 3-mile beach, and old-growth pine forests, Topsail Hill Preserve is one of Florida’s State Parks that are known for their beachfront campsites, but also for its cycling, geocaching, hiking, fishing, paddling, and wildlife-viewing opportunities.

Besides its cabins, campgrounds, shower station, water fountain, restrooms, and playground, the park offers easy access to 78 fishing and diving reefs, installed in 2017 at about 239 yards offshore. They are between 13 and 18 feet deep and deployed to form the shape of a seahorse, and marine sightings include pompano, redfish, Spanish mackerel, and king mackerel.

2 Peanut Island Park

Peanut Island Park is a 79-acre island in Palm Beach County, known especially among locals as a prime shallow swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, snorkeling, and picnicking destination. It features boat docks, a pier and designated spots for fishing, restrooms, chiki huts, an observation deck, picnic pavilions, a snorkeling lagoon, and a campground, among other amenities.

Peanut Island is considered one of the best places in Florida to snorkel without the need for a boat, and the three rock breakwaters that double as artificial reefs on the southeastern shore are regularly visited by spot crabs, lobsters, urchins, sergeant majors, Atlantic tarpons, barracudas, parrotfish, manatees, rays, and small sharks, among others.

1 Deerfield Beach

Located in Broward County, the city of Deerfield Beach boasts an award-winning "Blue Wave" beach with nine lifeguard towers, sand volleyball courts, showers, restrooms, restaurants, and fishing equipment vendors (rod rentals from $18).

It also features several reefs for snorkelers and divers, some of which are very close to the 976-foot Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, such as the 70-foot-deep Rapa Nui Reef, a 150-foot barge named after the Easter Islands; the 30-foot-deep Pennel’s Reef; and the 12-foot-deep Turtle Reef, located about 150 feet from the shore.

What are common roofing issues?

Your home’s roofing system is going to have problems at some point. Noticing damage early with visual inspections can prevent pricier repairs later.

During your inspection, keep an eye out for the following common roofing issues.

A major roofing problem is damaged shingles. Asphalt shingles, a common roofing material, typically last about 20–30 years, but harsh weather can cause cracking or lifting. Damaged or missing shingles let in moisture, potentially causing mold, structural decay and leaks.

Flashing—the metal sheets around a roof's dormers, vents and joints—deflects rain runoff away from vulnerable seams and transition points. When flashing hasn't been installed properly or has deteriorated over time, water can leak through. Check for flashing failure when you see signs of moisture stains, leaks coming from joints, sagging areas, drips from ceilings that align with flashing seams or peeling paint.

Leaks may develop in areas such as seams, protrusions and flashing around chimneys, valleys, vent pipes and skylights where roof planes intersect. These watertight joints may shift and allow water in due to expansion and contraction from temperature changes. Fixing leaks early prevents more costly damage down the line.

Poor insulation in your attic can result in your heating and cold air seeping out through your roof. This leads to damaged rafters, mold growth, higher energy costs, ice dams and leaks. Upgrading your attic insulation so it's appropriate for Deerfield Beach's climate reduces energy use and utility bills.

Standing water usually happens when your roof's decking has low spots and debris buildup. This can result in pooled water after storms, which can become a problem. If present for 48 hours or more, moisture can saturate and rot your roof components. Additionally, it places considerable weight stress and could indicate a need to replace your roof surface due to improper slope or drainage. Routine roof cleaning and ensuring proper drainage helps prevent these issues.

A roof's life expectancy depends on climate, installation quality, maintenance and roof material, with proper installation being the most important factor.

Asphalt shingles last 20–30 years on average, but the kind of shingle will affect the life span. Architectural shingles can last up to 25–30 years, and traditional three-tab shingles generally last 15–20 years. Well-maintained shake roofs or wood shingles last around 20–25 years, but they can face rot, mold and insect damage.

The life expectancy of metal roofs varies based on the metal used, but most can last for 40–70 years or more. Concrete roofs generally last 50 years or up to a century with proper maintenance. Slate roofs can last for over 100 years.

Time to ditch your smartphones and grab a turkey leg, because the Florida Renaissance Festival is taking Deerfield Beach on a whimsical ride to the past. The 32nd iteration of this beloved event has officially flung open its gates at Quiet Waters Park, according to WSVN, with a lineup of themed weekends that are set to sprinkle some old-world charm on your modern life.

The festival began its journey this year on February 3, and promises to keep delightfully ensnaring visitors with its medieval shenanigans through March 24. Each weekend has been carefully crafted to feature a unique theme, from the magic-inspired "Cauldron of Chaos" to the buccaneer bash "Scoundrels of the High Seas," reports Local 10. These themed escapades pledge to not just entertain, but fully immerse visitors in a kaleidoscope of times past.

For those wondering what to expect, you're in for a treat. Well beyond simply throwing it back to the Renaissance, guests can expect performances, ye olde vendors, and quests that might make you seriously consider trading in your car for a noble steed. And yes, while it might be tempting to stay in Bard character perpetually after the experience, the festival does have an end date. So, sharpen your lances, or rather your credit cards, because this trip across the centuries is one for the books.

They're a reasonable $32 for adults and $14 for kiddos aged six to eleven - you can safely leave your doubloons at home. There's even a golden ticket of sorts; a seasonal pass available running you about $160 for adults and $70 for the little squires, quickly proving to be a fan favorite for Time Lords and Ladies who plan to return more than once. And let's be honest, with a finale weekend titled "Into the Woods," the question isn't if you'll want to come back, it's how could you possibly resist?

So if you're looking to break free from the drudgery of modern life and dive headfirst, into some historical revelry, grab your cape and head to Deerfield Beach. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to sunset, leaving plenty of time to joust, jest, and jig to your heart's content.
